Shit. Her eyes are shut shut shut and her tongue makes a guest appearance, peering out from the inside of her warm wet pink little mouth. He looks at her and she looks human and flawless on the outside - none of the bullet holes that Bobby made in her flesh, none of the holes he tries not to plan to make in her skin - and it makes everything seem okay. For two seconds. Small seconds that mean nothing, her lips pinching and releasing, he remembers that she’s trying to make him the boy king she thinks he’s meant to be.
